MBBS and BDS: 50% MDCAT, 40% FSc, 10% Matric (PMDC formula). Pick where you are applying.
Last updated · Page editedHow the MDCAT aggregate is calculated
PMDC's Admissions Regulations set one merit formula for public medical and dental colleges: 50% MDCAT, 40% FSc Pre-Medical and 10% Matric. The admitting university in each province (UHS in Punjab, for example) applies it. Pick your province in the calculator, because each one has its own admission policy and accepted MDCAT years.
MBBS and BDS
Aggregate = (MDCAT % × 0.5) + (FSc / HSSC % × 0.4) + (Matric / SSC % × 0.1)
- 50% MDCAT, out of 180.
- 40% FSc Pre-Medical (at least 60%).
- 10% Matric.
O and A-Level students
Aggregate = (MDCAT % × 0.5) + (A-Level % × 0.4) + (O-Level % × 0.1)
- 50% MDCAT.
- 40% A-Level and 10% O-Level, from your IBCC equivalence.
- Biology and Chemistry are compulsory, with at least 60%.
Which marks to enter
- MDCAT: your marks out of 180, from your MDCAT result.
- FSc and Matric: your marks and the totals on your mark sheets.
- O and A Levels: choose O and A Levels and enter your IBCC equivalence marks. No certificate yet? Use the IBCC equivalence calculator.
- Applying in KP? Use the KMU calculator. Applying to Army Medical College, CMH or other armed forces colleges? Use the NUMS calculator.

What MDCAT score do you need for MBBS in Punjab?
Every Punjab public medical college closed above 93.5% in 2025-26, so a public MBBS seat in Punjab needs an aggregate in the mid 90s. Use the target aggregate box: enter your FSc and Matric marks and a target such as 94, and the calculator shows the MDCAT marks you need out of 180.
Because MDCAT is 50% of the aggregate, each 10 MDCAT marks (out of 180) add about 2.8 points. FSc carries 40%, so every 10 FSc marks out of 1,100 add about 0.36 points.
MDCAT aggregate by province
- Punjab (UHS): 50/40/10, FSc at least 60%. Accepts MDCAT 2024, 2025 or 2026.
- Sindh public colleges: admitted through JSMU, LUMHS or SMBBMU depending on your district. Accepts MDCAT 2024, 2025 or 2026 by Sukkur IBA.
- Federal colleges (SZABMU): Federal Medical College Islamabad, Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed College Lahore and the School of Dentistry Islamabad.
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: KMU runs its own admission rules; use the KMU calculator.
- Armed forces colleges: NUMS runs a separate test; use the NUMS calculator.
MDCAT strategy for a public medical seat
MDCAT carries 50% of your aggregate, and public colleges close in the mid 90s, so every MDCAT mark counts.
1. Clear the passing marks
You need 55% for MBBS (99 of 180) or 50% for BDS (90 of 180), plus 60% in FSc, before your aggregate is considered.
2. Attempt every question
MDCAT has 180 MCQs and no negative marking. Biology is 81 of them, so it decides most of your score.
3. Your result lasts more than one year
Punjab, Sindh and the federal colleges accepted MDCAT 2024, 2025 or 2026 results for 2026-27. Check your own province's policy.
4. O and A-Level students
Get your IBCC equivalence first and enter those marks. Biology and Chemistry are compulsory, with at least 60%.
