KMU is the admitting university for MBBS and BDS in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Public colleges are filled through CAS and private colleges through CASPR, both with 50% MDCAT, 40% FSc and 10% Matric. KMU-CAT is a separate test for allied health, nursing, DPT and similar BS programmes, with 40% test, 50% FSc and 10% Matric.
MBBS and BDS (CAS and CASPR)
Aggregate = (MDCAT % × 0.5) + (FSc / HSSC % × 0.4) + (Matric / SSC % × 0.1)
- 50% PMDC MDCAT, out of 180.
- 40% FSc Pre-Medical: at least 65% for public colleges, 60% for private.
- 10% Matric.
Allied health (KMU-CAT)
Aggregate = (KMU-CAT % × 0.4) + (FSc / HSSC % × 0.5) + (Matric / SSC % × 0.1)
- 40% KMU-CAT, out of 100.
- 50% FSc: generally 50% for BS, 60% for DPT.
- 10% Matric.
Which marks to enter
- MDCAT: your marks and the total on your MDCAT result (180 in 2026). KMU accepts MDCAT 2024, 2025 or 2026.
- KMU-CAT: pick Allied health and enter your score out of 100.
- O and A Levels: enter your IBCC equivalence marks. The calculator doesn't convert grades.
- Colleges: pick public (CAS) or private (CASPR). They have different FSc minimums and separate applications.
Worked example: KMU aggregate for MBBS
| Part | Working | Points |
|---|---|---|
| MDCAT 150 / 180 | 83.33% × 50% | 41.6667 |
| FSc / HSSC 1000 / 1100 | 90.91% × 40% | 36.3636 |
| Matric / SSC 1050 / 1100 | 95.45% × 10% | 9.5455 |

KMU closing merit
KMU publishes a final merit list for each category that ranks every candidate by aggregate (for 2025-26 MBBS open merit, dated 12 December 2025). Seats are then given college by college at placement rounds, so KMU doesn't publish a closing aggregate for each college.
Find your position in the final merit list on the CAS merit lists page and attend placement on the date in the schedule. Figures for individual colleges on other sites are estimates, so we don't show them.
KMU MBBS and BDS: public and private colleges
- Public colleges (CAS): FSc Pre-Medical at least 65%, MDCAT at least 55% for MBBS or 50% for BDS, and KP or Newly Merged Districts domicile.
- Private colleges (CASPR): FSc at least 60%, the same MDCAT minimums, and not limited to KP domicile on the portal.
- Each programme (MBBS, BDS) needs its own application and fee, Rs 3,000 per programme.
- Public seat categories include open merit, self finance, reciprocal, disabled, backward areas, Newly Merged Districts, overseas Pakistanis, minorities and others. You are only considered for categories you apply for.
KMU-CAT for allied health and nursing
KMU-CAT is not for MBBS or BDS. It is KMU's test for BS allied health sciences, nursing, public health, DPT, Pharm-D and similar programmes. It has 100 MCQs in 90 minutes with no negative marking, and a score is valid for one year.
Registering for KMU-CAT doesn't apply you for a programme; submit the programme application as well.
KMU admission strategy
MDCAT carries 50% of your KMU aggregate, and public colleges also need 65% in FSc.
1. Clear the minimums
55% in MDCAT for MBBS (99 of 180) or 50% for BDS (90 of 180), plus 65% in FSc for public colleges or 60% for private.
2. Apply on both portals
Public (CAS) and private (CASPR) colleges have separate applications. Apply to both if you would accept a private seat.
3. Choose your categories
KMU only considers you for the seat categories you apply for, such as self finance or Newly Merged Districts.
4. Attend placement
After the final merit list, seats are allotted at placement rounds. Deposit the fee within three working days of placement or the seat goes to the next candidate.

FSc minimums are from the current CAS (65%) and CASPR (60%) eligibility pages; the older 2025-26 policy PDF states 60%. The tie order comes from that policy and isn't confirmed for private or CAT admissions.
