IBA closing merit and test cut-off

IBA has no aggregate formula and doesn't publish closing merit. Its Admissions Committee sets an aptitude test cut-off for each programme after the test, and some programmes add an interview. IBA also says it won't lower its criteria to fill seats.

One aptitude test covers all three schools (Business Studies, Mathematics and Computer Science, Economics and Social Sciences), but you pay a separate fee for each school you want to be considered for.

IBA Karachi admission 2027: test dates

  • Round 1: forms close 9 December 2026, aptitude test 20 December 2026.
  • Round 2: forms 1 January to 8 March 2027, test 21 March 2027.
  • Round 3: forms 1 April to 9 June 2027, test 20 June 2027.

Classes start on 23 August 2027 for all rounds. See the IBA profile for the full schedule and fees.

Skipping the IBA test with ACT or SAT

  • BBA, BS Business Analytics and BS Accounting & Finance: ACT composite 29 and English / Writing 25.
  • BS Social Sciences & Liberal Arts: ACT composite 28 and English / Writing 25.
  • BS Economics, Computer Science, Economics & Mathematics, Economics & Data Science: ACT composite 28.

SAT has no minimum for exemption: only the top SAT scorers get admission or an interview, so IBA advises taking its test as well. Scores stay valid for five years.

Eligibility is the first gate, the test is the second

IBA has no aggregate formula: the aptitude test cut-off decides who gets in.

1. One test, three schools

Pay a separate fee for each school you want. You can't add a school after the results.

2. Three rounds for Fall 2027

Round 1 closes on 9 December 2026, Round 2 on 8 March 2027 and Round 3 on 9 June 2027.

3. No quota seats

IBA has no reserved or quota seats and doesn't lower its criteria to fill seats.

4. IBCC equivalence for foreign results

O and A-Level, diploma and IB students need an IBCC equivalence with their application.

IBA Karachi eligibility: common questions

What percentage is required for IBA Karachi?

BBA, BS Accounting & Finance and BS Business Analytics need 65% in HSSC. BS Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics & Mathematics and Economics & Data Science need 60% in Pre-Engineering or General Group with Mathematics. BS Economics and BS Social Sciences & Liberal Arts need 60% in any group.

What A-Level grades does IBA require?

A* and A count 4 points, B 3, C 2 and D 1 across three principal subjects. Business programmes need 8 points (2Bs and 1C); other BS programmes need 7 points (1B and 2Cs). At most one D, and no E or U.

Can Pre-Medical students apply to IBA?

Yes, for BBA, BS Accounting & Finance and BS Business Analytics with 65%, and for BS Economics and BS Social Sciences & Liberal Arts with 60%. Computer Science and the mathematics programmes need Pre-Engineering or General Group with Mathematics.

Does meeting the minimum mean I will get into IBA?

No. The minimum only lets you apply. Admission depends on the aptitude test cut-off IBA sets for each programme, and an interview for some programmes.

Why is there no IBA aggregate calculator?

IBA doesn't publish a formula that combines test and academic marks. It sets a test cut-off for each programme, so any aggregate would be a guess.

Can I skip the IBA test with SAT or ACT?

Yes. ACT needs a composite of 29 and English / Writing 25 for business programmes, 28 and 25 for Social Sciences & Liberal Arts, and 28 for the other BS programmes. SAT has no fixed minimum.
