How Air University calculates your aggregate

Air University uses two formulas. Engineering programmes give FSc the most weight. All other undergraduate programmes (computing, business, social sciences and sciences) give the entry test the most weight. You take AU's computer-based test (CBT), or apply with an accepted NAT, USAT, SAT or engineering entry test score instead.

Computing, business and other programmes

Aggregate = (Test % × 0.5) + (FSc / HSSC % × 0.35) + (Matric / SSC % × 0.15)

  • 50% AU entry test, or an accepted exemption score.
  • 35% FSc / HSSC.
  • 15% Matric / SSC.

Engineering

Aggregate = (Test % × 0.4) + (FSc / HSSC % × 0.5) + (Matric / SSC % × 0.1)

  • 40% AU entry test (at least 33% needed under PEC rules).
  • 50% FSc / HSSC.
  • 10% Matric / SSC.

Which marks to enter

  • Test: your AU test result, or your exemption score, as a percentage.
  • FSc and Matric: your marks and the totals on your mark sheets. Air University doesn't round up, so 59.9% is not 60%.
  • O and A Levels: choose O and A Levels and enter your IBCC equivalence marks. No certificate yet? Use the IBCC equivalence calculator.
  • Result awaited: AU gives provisional admission and cancels it if your final marks fall below the minimum.

Worked example: Air University aggregate for computer science

PartWorkingPoints
AU test 70 / 10070% × 50%35.0000
FSc / HSSC 935 / 110085% × 35%29.7500
Matric / SSC 990 / 110090% × 15%13.5000
Air University aggregate78.2500%

With the same marks, the engineering formula gives 79.5000%, because it counts FSc more.

Air University closing merit 2026 (official)

Air University published the closing percentage of its first merit list for Fall 2026 on its website. Later lists usually close lower as seats are filled, but AU didn't publish their closing figures, so treat these as the top of the range.

Air University entry test and exemptions

The AU test is computer based. Pre-Engineering and ICS students sit English 20%, Analytical 25%, Quantitative 25% and subjects 30% (Physics, Chemistry or Computer, and Maths). Pre-Medical students have a larger subject share that includes Biology.

You can skip the test with a recent score instead:

  • Engineering: NAT-IE, NAT-ICS, USAT-E, USAT-CS, or the entry test of UET Lahore, NED, MUET, NUST or ETEA.
  • Computing: NAT-ICS, NAT-IE, NAT-IM, USAT-E, USAT-M or USAT-CS.
  • Business and management: SAT 1100 or more, or any NAT or USAT type.

Exemption scores must be at least 50, match your FSc group and be from the last year before AU's closing date.

Air University aggregate for CS, cyber security and engineering

Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Cyber Security and the other computing programmes use 50/35/15, and need at least 50% in FSc with Maths (without Maths you take 6 credit hours of Maths in the first year). Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Mechatronics and Software Engineering use 40/50/10 and need 60% in FSc with Physics, Chemistry and Maths (ICS is accepted with Chemistry as a remedial course).

Cyber Security and Computer Science were among the highest first-list closings in 2026, at 82.18% and 79.65%.

Air University admission strategy

The test carries 50% for computing and business, so a strong test score or exemption matters most there.

1. Use an exemption if it helps

A NAT, USAT, SAT or engineering entry test score of 50 or more can replace the AU test. Use whichever score is higher.

2. Apply in an early phase

AU admits in several application phases, each followed by a CBT. Applying early puts you in the first merit list and gives you time for a later phase if needed.

3. Add evening programmes

Evening sessions of CS, AI and Software Engineering closed lower in 2026, so they make good backup preferences.

4. Pay before each list's deadline

Check every merit list on the portal and pay the fee by its deadline, or the seat goes to the next candidate.
