QAU Merit Calculator (BS, LLB and Pharm-D)

BS: 30% Matric + 70% Intermediate Part-I. LLB: 20% Matric + 50% Part-I + 30% LAT. Pharm-D: 30% Matric + 70% complete FSc.

Programme
Intermediate Part-I 70%
Matric / SSC 30%

How QAU calculates your merit

QAU ranks BS applicants on academic marks only: 30% Matric and 70% Intermediate Part-I, even if you have already completed FA or FSc. LLB adds the HEC Law Admission Test (LAT), and Pharm-D uses the complete FSc result. Each mark is divided by its own total.

BS programmes

Aggregate = (Part-I % × 0.7) + (Matric % × 0.3)

  • 30% Matric (SSC) or equivalent.
  • 70% Intermediate Part-I (HSSC-I) or equivalent.

LLB

Aggregate = (LAT % × 0.3) + (Part-I % × 0.5) + (Matric % × 0.2)

  • 20% Matric.
  • 50% Intermediate Part-I.
  • 30% HEC LAT, out of 100. You need at least 50.

Pharm-D

Aggregate = (FSc % × 0.7) + (Matric % × 0.3)

  • 30% Matric.
  • 70% complete FSc Pre-Medical, with at least 60%.

Which marks to enter

  • Part-I: your first year marks and their total, for BS and LLB, even if Part-II is out.
  • Pharm-D: your complete FSc Pre-Medical marks out of 1,100.
  • LAT: your HEC Law Admission Test score out of 100.
  • O and A Levels: enter your IBCC equivalence marks for both Matric and Intermediate. No certificate yet? Use the IBCC equivalence calculator.

Worked example: QAU BS merit

PartWorkingPoints
Part-I 500 / 55090.91% × 70%63.64
Matric 1000 / 110090.91% × 30%27.27
QAU aggregate90.91%

QAU's own example uses these marks: 1000/1100 × 30 + 500/550 × 70 = 90.91.

QAU closing merit 2026

QAU publishes department lists with each selected candidate's aggregate and quota. The Fall 2026 BS morning lists are no longer online; the Pharm-D and BS Software Engineering lists are. Lowest aggregate selected:

  • Pharm-D (morning), open merit: 96.01% on the 1st list (7 October) and 94.72% on the 3rd list (14 October). Provincial quotas closed lower, for example Sindh urban at 83.89% on the 3rd list.
  • Pharm-D (evening, self-finance): 89.98%, 89.11% and 88.73% on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd lists.
  • BS Software Engineering (self-support): 82.20%, 80.91% and 79.36%.

Half the seats in each department go on merit and provincial quotas, the other half on self-finance merit without quotas.

QAU minimum marks

  • BS: at least 50% in HSSC Part-I, with the subjects your programme needs (for example Mathematics for BS Computer Science).
  • LLB: FA or FSc with 50% and at least 50 in the HEC LAT.
  • Pharm-D: complete FSc Pre-Medical with at least 60%.
  • You must later pass HSSC as a whole with at least 50% and submit the result card within 45 days, or the admission is cancelled.

QAU and the HEC USAT

In 2026 QAU first announced that the HEC USAT would be required for BS and Pharm-D, then waived the requirement for BS admissions on 28 July 2026. Whether USAT is required for Fall 2027 has not been announced, so registering for USAT keeps your options open.

What the QAU formula means for you

Part-I carries 70% of your BS merit, so your first year result matters most.

1. Part-I, not Part-II

BS and LLB merit always uses Part-I marks, even if your final result is out.

2. No test in BS merit

Department aptitude tests only shortlist (40% to pass); they add nothing to merit.

3. LAT for law

LLB adds the HEC LAT at 30%, with a minimum of 50 out of 100.

4. Two seat pools

Half the seats are merit and quota, half self-finance merit, so there are two closing figures.

QAU merit: common questions

What is the QAU merit formula?

For BS programmes: 30% Matric + 70% Intermediate Part-I. For LLB: 20% Matric + 50% Part-I + 30% LAT. Pharm-D uses 30% Matric and 70% of the complete FSc result.

Does QAU use Part-II marks?

Not for BS and LLB: merit is always calculated on Part-I marks. Pharm-D needs the complete FSc Pre-Medical result with at least 60%.

Is there an entry test for QAU BS admission?

Some departments hold an aptitude test where you need 40% to be shortlisted, but it does not count in merit. In 2026 QAU waived the HEC USAT requirement for BS admissions.

What was the QAU Pharm-D closing merit in 2026?

On open merit, the morning Pharm-D list closed at 96.01% on the 1st list and 94.72% on the 3rd list. The evening (self-finance) list closed at 88.73% on the 3rd list.

What was the QAU Software Engineering merit in 2026?

BS Software Engineering (self-support) closed at 82.20% on the 1st list, 80.91% on the 2nd and 79.36% on the 3rd.

How many years is LLB at QAU?

QAU's Fall 2026 notice lists LLB as a 4-year programme, with admission on Intermediate Part-I marks and the HEC LAT.

How do O and A-Level students calculate QAU merit?

Use your IBCC equivalence marks for both Matric and Intermediate in the same formula.
