LUMS eligibility criteria for Fall 2027

LUMS has raised its minimum marks for Fall 2027. Meeting the minimum lets you apply; LUMS then decides on your full application (academic record, test score, application, teacher evaluations and an interview if called). It publishes no merit formula.

Matric and Intermediate

Matric 75% + FSc / ICS / ICOM 75% (FA 70%)

  • Part-I (first year) marks are accepted with the same minimums if your final results come by August 2027.
  • Results below the minimum must be improved by November 2026 for Fall 2027.

O and A-Levels

O-Level 8 subjects avg B + A-Level 3 Bs

  • O-Level: at least 8 subjects including Mathematics, average grade B.
  • A-Level: best three full-credit subjects averaging 3 Bs; no AS levels, General Paper or grade below E.
  • A-Level improvements must be in the November 2026 sitting.

Other qualifications

US diploma 75% · IB 29 · DAE 70%

  • American High School Diploma 75% or a B average.
  • IB Diploma 29 of 45; IB Middle Years 38 of 56.
  • DAE 70% with an IBCC equivalence certificate.

How to use the checker

  • Pick your qualification: Matric and FSc or FA, O and A-Level, US diploma or IB, or DAE.
  • Enter your marks or grades. Tick Part-I if your final results are still to come.
  • The checker shows whether you meet the minimum and what each LUMS school also needs.
  • For O and A-Levels we average grades on equal steps (A* 6, A 5, B 4, C 3, D 2, E 1). LUMS publishes no scale, so results just under B say Check with LUMS.

Worked example: O-Levels 4 A* and 4 C, A-Levels A*, C, C

StepCalculationResult
O-Level subjects8 subjects including MathematicsMeets the 8 subject rule
O-Level average(4 × 6 + 4 × 3) ÷ 8 = 4.5Above B (4)

Is there a LUMS merit calculator?

No. LUMS has no aggregate formula and no closing merit: each application is reviewed as a whole, and only a small fraction of applicants get offers, with a small waitlist for a second round. Any "LUMS merit calculator" online is guessing. What LUMS does publish is the profile of its latest intake:

Undergraduate Class of 2030 (official averages)

FSc / ICS score89%
Matric score93%
O-Level grades4 A* and 4 A
SAT score1400

Which test LUMS needs: SAT, ACT or LCAT

Every school accepts one of the SAT, ACT or LCAT. The School of Law (BA-LL.B) also needs the HEC Law Admission Test (LAT). SATs taken before March 2025 or after 6 March 2027 do not count, nor ACTs before February 2025 or after 10 April 2027. LUMS uses the best single attempt, and scores must come directly from the testing agency (SAT code 0513, ACT code 7896).

The LCAT is held once for Fall 2027: a paper test with two verbal and two maths sections of 40 minutes each, about three hours in total, with no calculator.

Applying on Part-I results and improving grades

  • If your final FSc, ICS, ICOM, FA, A-Level, diploma or IB results come by August 2027, apply on your Part-I (first year) results with the same minimums. Any offer is conditional.
  • Completed but below the minimum? Improve by November 2026. A-Level June 2027 retakes are too late for Fall 2027.
  • You can apply to at most two schools, in order of preference; LUMS offers your highest preference you qualify for.

School specific requirements

  • Science and Engineering (SBASSE): IB applicants need science subjects and an IBCC equivalence in science; Chemical and Electrical Engineering need an equivalence to Pre-Engineering.
  • Law (SAHSOL): SAT, ACT or LCAT plus LAT.
  • Business (SDSB) and Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSS): SAT, ACT or LCAT.

Fees, aid and all dates are on the LUMS profile.

The minimum gets you in the door, not the offer

LUMS has no merit formula: it reviews your whole application.

1. 75% and 75%

Fall 2027 needs 75% in Matric and 75% in FSc, ICS or ICOM (70% in FA).

2. One test, any school

SAT, ACT or LCAT for every school; law adds the LAT.

3. Apply by 20 January

The online application closes on 20 January 2027 at 5:00 pm. There is no late application.

4. Aid is need-based

Need-based aid covers 20% to 100% of tuition; NOP gives full support.
