UET Lahore admission 2027: ECAT and application
Getting into UET is two separate steps. First you register for and sit the ECAT (Engineering College Admission Test) on the ECAT portal. Then you apply for admission on the admission portal, choosing programmes, campuses and seat categories. Passing ECAT does not apply for you. Next admission dates not announced yet. In 2026 UET held two ECATs (First and Second); a score counted only for that year's Fall admission. Business and science programmes marked Non-ECAT do not need the test.

Your ECAT subject combination must match your Intermediate subjects, because UET considers you only for programmes linked to that combination (DAE holders are the exception). The 2026 ECAT fee was Rs 3,000.
UET merit formula and aggregate
UET uses your FSc Part-I (first year) marks for the 50% share, even if you have already finished Intermediate. O/A-Level students: ECAT 33% + O-Level IBCC equivalence 67%. DAE holders: ECAT 33% + first and second year marks 67%. Non-ECAT programmes: Matric 25% + Part-I 75%. You need an aggregate of at least 50% to be considered.

Hafiz-e-Quran applicants can earn up to 20 extra marks and sportspeople up to 10, after a verification test at UET. Check the box in the online form to be called.
UET Lahore fee structure (Fall 2026 schedule)
UET's fee depends on your seat category. Open merit seats for Punjab domicile (A1 and most reserved categories) are subsidised. A2 open merit and some other categories are partially subsidised and cost more.

Mess (food) is separate and run on a no-profit basis: about Rs 6,000 to 8,000 a month, per the prospectus. Rooms are allotted by availability. UET can revise fees; the application fee in 2026 was Rs 3,000 for any number of programmes.

UET eligibility criteria
- 60% in Intermediate (or DAE/equivalent) for engineering, architecture and computer engineering; 50% for science, technology and business programmes.
- A merit aggregate of at least 50%.
- ECAT taken in the same session, with the subject combination matching your Intermediate (except DAE holders).
- Punjab domicile for open merit (A1/A2) seats. Students from other provinces can apply for AP seats in some programmes.
- Pre-medical students with additional Maths are considered on their first-year Biology marks; some programmes have pre-medical seats (A1-Med).
- Foreign qualifications need an IBCC equivalence certificate.
How to apply to UET Lahore
- Register for ECAT on ecat.uet.edu.pk, pay the challan, print the admit card and sit the test.
- On admission.uet.edu.pk, generate the admission challan (name, phone and CNIC) and pay it through HBL or UBL channels.
- Fill the form with your CNIC and challan number, enter Matric and Part-I marks with totals, and upload documents.
- Choose your programme, campus and category preferences, then submit. Applications by post or by hand are not accepted.
- Check your status on the portal (no offer letter is posted). If selected, pay dues and submit documents by the deadline or you drop out of later merit lists.

What is the UET Lahore fee per semester?
On the Fall 2026 schedule, subsidised (open merit) students pay Rs 110,340 in the first semester and between Rs 72,260 and Rs 105,060 in later semesters. Partially subsidised seats cost Rs 159,290 in the first semester and Rs 113,040 to Rs 156,070 later.
What is the total fee for a 4-year degree at UET?
Rs 713,920 for subsidised seats and Rs 1,085,430 for partially subsidised seats, on the Fall 2026 schedule, before hostel and mess.
What is the UET merit formula?
33% ECAT, 50% FSc Part-I and 17% Matric. UET uses Part-I marks even if you have completed Intermediate.
Is there negative marking in ECAT?
No. Each correct answer earns 4 marks out of 400 and wrong answers lose nothing.
How many questions are in ECAT?
100 multiple-choice questions in 100 minutes: 10 English and 90 from your subject combination.
What marks do I need for UET engineering?
At least 60% in Intermediate (or DAE) and a merit aggregate of at least 50%. Science and business programmes need 50% in Intermediate.
Can students from outside Punjab get admission in UET?
Open merit A1 and A2 seats need Punjab domicile. Some disciplines have AP seats for applicants from other provinces, and there are reserved seats for specific regions.
How much is the UET hostel fee?
For subsidised students: Rs 13,040 a semester for a dormitory or Rs 16,260 for a cubicle, plus a one-time Rs 2,810 hostel admission fee. Mess costs about Rs 6,000 to 8,000 a month.
