NUST Admission 2027: NET Registration Guide

Applying to NUST for 2027? Check your eligibility, prepare your records and follow the NET registration steps before paying for your chosen series.

NUST admission 2027: quick answer

  • Apply online: use NUST's official undergraduate portal.
  • NET-1 deadline: 14 November 2026, as listed on 18 October 2026.
  • Islamabad NET-1 tests: 17 November 2026 onwards.
  • Minimum marks: at least 60% each in SSC and HSSC or equivalent, plus programme subject requirements.
  • Prepare first: accessible email, academic records and a recent passport photograph.
  • Fee: currently Rs 5,000 per exam for Pakistani and dual nationals; check your series invoice.

1. Start with the official NUST admission portal

Admissions open: NET Series 1 online registration: open until 14 Nov 2026.

You do not need to sort out every university choice before starting. First check whether your subjects fit the programme you want, then register for the relevant NET. This guide covers the undergraduate NET route for admission in 2027.

Open NUST’s official application portal. Your application, payment and personal test details belong there, not on StudentPath. Registering for a test is not an admission offer.

2. NUST NET registration dates for the 2027 intake

On 18 October 2026, the official portal listed the following schedule for undergraduate admission 2027. The first series takes place in 2026 because it belongs to the next admission intake.

SeriesRegistrationTest information
NET Series 14 October to 14 November 2026Islamabad: 17 November 2026 onwards
NET Series 2December 2026 to January 2027, tentativeCheck the official portal
NET Series 3February to March 2027, tentativeCheck the official portal
NET Series 4April to May 2027, tentativeCheck the official portal

A registration deadline is not your test date. Check the portal again before arranging travel, especially for a later series with only tentative registration months listed.

3. Check eligibility before paying

NUST requires at least 60% aggregate separately in SSC and HSSC, or their equivalents. Meeting that minimum does not make every programme available to you. Your subjects must also meet the official programme-specific eligibility rules.

  • FSc or FA with results pending: you can apply using Part I results. Admission remains conditional on completing the required qualification.
  • O/A Levels: you can apply using your O Level IBCC equivalence, with the required A Level equivalence needed later.
  • ICS engineering applicants: the Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science route requires a Chemistry remedial course in the first semester.
  • Pre-medical applicants without additional Mathematics: engineering and Robotics & AI require NUST’s eight-week condensed Mathematics course before admission. Computing requires six credit hours of deficient Mathematics within one year.

Shortlist your options through the NUST university profile, then check each programme against the official subject requirements before choosing a test.

4. Prepare your records and photograph

Keep your academic records beside you while filling the form so names and marks are copied carefully. If your parent is helping, agree which email account you will keep checking throughout the admission cycle.

  • An email address you can access. NUST sends your login credentials there.
  • Your name and father’s name for account creation.
  • Your available school and college results, or IBCC equivalence as applicable, to enter academic details accurately.
  • A recent passport photograph, no more than one month old, with a plain background.

Keep registration preparation separate from test-day documents. On test day you need the printed admit card and an accepted original photo-bearing document, explained below.

5. How to register for NET online

  1. Create your login. Use the official Create Login page. Enter your name, father’s name, email and email confirmation, say how you heard about NUST, and complete word verification. The account is valid for session 2027.
  2. Check your email. Use the credentials NUST sends you to log in. Keep them private.
  3. Fill the application. Enter your details carefully and upload the required recent photograph. Check your programme eligibility and relevant test category before submitting.
  4. Submit and check confirmation. NUST sends an email confirmation after form submission.
  5. Print the fee invoice. Log in again, open My Account and print the Fee Invoice. Pay using an officially supported option.
  6. Arrange your test details. For computer-based tests, choose an available date and session. For paper-based tests, dates are allocated first come, first served; NUST emails you to print the admit card.

Keep the confirmation email and payment record together. If something goes wrong, use the help information on the official portal rather than sharing your password with someone offering to fix it.

6. NET fee, payment and repeat attempts

The current official processing-fee page, checked on 18 October 2026, displays Rs 5,000 per exam for Pakistani and dual nationals, and Rs 10,000 for foreign nationals. Check the invoice for your chosen series before paying.

The fee is non-refundable, non-transferable and valid only for the series you paid for. It is a test application charge, not semester tuition or a hostel payment. Budget for another payment if you plan another attempt.

NUST’s instructions list 1Link and credit card payment. A 1Link payment is verified instantly. Follow your account’s payment information and keep your receipt rather than treating a submitted form as proof of payment.

You may take NET more than once, and NUST considers your best score. You may attempt a particular discipline only once in each series.

7. Choose the right NET category

Do not choose a paper just because a friend from your class selected it. Use NUST’s official NET subjects and weightings alongside your programme eligibility.

NET categorySubject weightings
EngineeringMathematics 50%, Physics 30%, English 20%
Applied SciencesBiology 50%, Chemistry 30%, English 20%
Business and Social SciencesQuantitative Mathematics 50%, English 50%
ArchitectureDesign Aptitude 50%, Mathematics 30%, English 20%
Natural SciencesMathematics 50%, English 50%, for the eligible academic backgrounds specified by NUST

Pre-medical applicants seeking engineering or computing take NET-Engineering under NUST’s stated conditions. Being from pre-medical does not automatically mean NET-Applied Sciences is the right paper for your intended degree.

8. Admit card, test day and admission follow-up

The portal lists Islamabad and Quetta as computer-based test locations, and Karachi and Gilgit as paper-based locations. Use your own admit card for your allocated venue, date and session.

Take a printed admit card plus any one of these original documents bearing your photograph: CNIC, passport, Family Registration Certificate, Matric certificate or FSc certificate. Do not rely on a phone screenshot or a photocopy in place of the required original.

After testing, keep checking your official account and admission notices. A good NET result does not finish the admission process. If selected, pay admission dues by the stated deadline: NUST says failure to do so ends further consideration.

9. Plan your NUST aggregate

The general NET merit formula gives NET 75%, SSC/O Level equivalent 10%, and HSSC/Part I/A Level equivalent/DAE 15%. For final-year A Level applicants, NUST assigns 25% to O Level IBCC equivalence and 75% to NET.

Use the formula that fits your qualification. A calculated aggregate helps you plan; it is not a promised seat or a fixed admission cutoff.

Use your marks to estimate your aggregate and compare the applicable formula above.
