  • Students appearing in HSC-II use their HSC Part-I marks; A-Level students use their O-Level IBCC equivalence.
  • If you already passed HSC in an earlier year, NED uses your complete HSC result and deducts 0.91% of your marks (2023, 2024 or 2025 passes, and improvement attempts).
  • Hafiz-e-Quran candidates who pass the entry test and NED’s Hafiz test get 1.82% of their HSC marks added.
  • You can take the test in both phases; the higher score counts. Past years’ test results are not accepted.
  • Ties are broken on the entry test total, then on its Mathematics or Biology section, then Physics, then Chemistry or Computer Science.

At the interview, candidates are called in merit order within their category and choose a discipline on the spot from the seats still available. The choice narrows as the merit order goes down, so popular programmes such as Computer Science and Software Engineering fill with the highest scores.

NED merit list 2026: scores called

NED does not publish a closing merit for each discipline. Its call lists show the merit score of every candidate called. For the largest category, Karachi Board Pre-Engineering / Computer Science, R-1(a) (1,480 seats in 2026):

Merit scores called, Karachi Board R-1(a), 2026

A first-list score does not mean any discipline: by the time later candidates are called, the most popular programmes are full. Other boards and categories (Hyderabad, Federal Board, A-Level, Aga Khan Board and others) have their own lists and seats.
