Punjab University Aggregate Calculator
PUCIT and general BS: 25% entry test, 75% academic record. Engineering: 33% entry test, 67% academic record. Matric counts at one quarter.
Last updated · Page editedHow Punjab University calculates your aggregate
PU first works out your academic record: a quarter of your Matric marks plus your full Intermediate marks, divided by a quarter of the Matric total plus the Intermediate total. Additional marks, such as 20 for Hafiz-e-Quran, are added to the marks earned. That percentage carries 75% and the PU entry test 25%. Engineering uses 67% academic record and 33% entry test.
PUCIT and general BS programmes
Aggregate = (PU entry test % × 0.25)
- Academic record = (Matric ÷ 4 + FSc + additional marks) ÷ (Matric total ÷ 4 + FSc total).
- 75% academic record, 25% PU entry test.
- Waiting for Part-II? PU uses Part-I marks and total provisionally.
Engineering (B.Sc. Engg.)
Aggregate = (PU entry test % × 0.33)
- Same academic record calculation.
- 67% academic record, 33% entry test.
- At least 33% in the entry test and 60% in FSc, Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, ICS, DAE or A-Level.
Which marks to enter
- Entry test: your marks and total in the PU test for your group, or the ECAT or NUST test PU accepts for engineering.
- Matric and FSc: your full marks and totals. The calculator takes a quarter of Matric for you.
- FSc Part-II awaited: choose "FSc Part-I only" and enter your Part-I marks and total.
- Hafiz-e-Quran: tick the box to add 20 marks. PU asks for a certificate and interviews you on it.
- Passed Intermediate in an earlier year: pick the number of late years. PU takes 2 percentage points off your academic record for each, up to five.
Worked example: PU aggregate for BS Computer Science
| Part | Working | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Academic record (1000 ÷ 4 + 900) / (1100 ÷ 4 + 1100) | 83.64% × 75% | 62.7273 |
| PU entry test 60 / 100 | 60% × 25% | 15.0000 |
| Punjab University aggregate | 77.7273% | |
Hafiz-e-Quran would add 20 to the 1,150 marks earned. Each late year since Intermediate takes 2 points off the 83.64% academic record.

PU publishes the previous year's closing merit for each department in its Undergraduate Programs Merit of Last Year document. The 2025 figures below are for BS first semester. PU doesn't say which merit list round or seat category each figure is from, so use them as a guide to the open merit level.

PU aggregate for PUCIT, BBA and engineering
Most PU BS programmes, including FCIT (PUCIT) computing, BBA and the sciences, use 75% academic record and 25% entry test. Engineering programmes at the Institute of Electrical, Electronics & Computer Engineering and the Institute of Chemical Engineering use 67% and 33%, and need 60% in FSc.
Because Matric counts at only a quarter, your FSc marks carry most of the academic record. PU also admits on Part-I marks provisionally, and cancels the admission if you fail Part-II.
PU entry test, age limit and late years
- The entry test is compulsory for merit and reserved seats in departments that hold one. PU runs separate tests by group: PU-E (Pre-Engineering), PU-M (Pre-Medical), PU-CSP and PU-CSS (computer science), PU-GS (General Science), PU-COM (Commerce) and PU-AHS (Arts & Humanities).
- For engineering, PU also accepts ECAT or the NUST entry test, under PEC rules.
- Regular BS programmes have an age limit of 24 on the closing date. Self-supporting, replica, afternoon and evening programmes have no age limit.
- Late years: 2 percentage points come off your academic record for each year since you passed Intermediate, up to five years.
Punjab University admission strategy
Your academic record carries 75% at PU, so FSc marks matter more here than at test-heavy universities.
1. Apply on time
Each late year since Intermediate costs 2 points of academic record, which is 1.5 points of aggregate.
2. Apply for every shift
Morning and evening or self-supporting seats are separate. Apply separately for each programme and shift you want.
3. Use additional marks
Hafiz-e-Quran adds 20 marks to your academic record, with a certificate and an interview.
4. Check FCIT campuses
Computer Science closed at 87.18% at the New Campus and 86.02% at the Old Campus in 2025. Rank both if you qualify.
